1. SPECIFIC IKC
- The Consultant will provide chief executive leadership and related consultancy to the Innovation and Knowledge Centre (IKC) in the following areas:
- Stakeholder relationship – Corporates (Tata, NSG, Pilkington, BASF), funders (WG, EPSRC, Innovate) and senior government (WG Welsh Office and UK Govt departments).
- Engage and negotiate with senior level with influencers – London (DECC, Innovate UK, BIS, BRE).
- Develop and communicate quarterly updates to stakeholders (including Swansea Bay City Region Board).
- Identify opportunities and deliver financial sustainability of Specific SPECIFIC IKC centre (from multiple sources with the Management team).
- Continue to evolve market delivery opportunities for IKC – including complementary market delivery centres such as existing Catapults, JVs, additional IKCs etc.
- Establish an Impact base in Imperial West for SPECIFIC and the University to give an easy access point to the potential of the Swansea Bay City Region (initially centred on the SPECIFIC IKC collaboration).
- The Consultant will advise, assist, and support the University’s College of Engineering to exploit the opportunity to work with academic and industrial partners to create a long term stable funding of SPECIFIC through a Catapult route.
- Based upon the learning and experience of leading SPECIFIC the Consultant will scope the opportunities for other significant projects in the University to develop similar models.
- The Consultant will seek to represent the University’s interests in working with existing partners aimed at securing continued industrial and public investment in a sustainable regionally based steel and related manufacturing industrial base.
2. SPECIFIC Catapult
The Consultant will advise, assist, and support the University’s College of Engineering to exploit the opportunity to work with academic and industrial partners to create a long term stable funding of SPECIFIC through a Catapult route.
3. Other University strategic projects
SPECIFIC the Consultant will scope the opportunities for other significant projects in the University to develop similar models.
4. External engagement and the regional industrial economy
The Consultant will seek to represent the University’s interests in working with existing partners aimed at securing continued industrial and public investment in a sustainable regionally based steel and related manufacturing industrial base.
