Description of the goods or services required

This project consists of the removal of the communal walkway canopies and re-roofing, general building and electrical works to 21 properties. The properties include 20 Bungalows and 1 single storey communal lounge, which serves the retirement housing scheme. The properties are all located in Trostrey, Hollybush, Cwmbran.

The bungalows are connected together by a front covered walkway. The scheme also has shared communal areas, which include a communal lounge and kitchen. The scheme is classed as retirement housing, was built in the nineteen seventies is of a traditional construction type. The residents of all the properties consist solely of Bron Afon tenants.

Contractors bidding for this work must be able to commence work on site in November 2020 and be completed and invoiced by March 2021. A period of 18 weeks has been allocated to deliver this project.

The contract will be undertaken using the JCT Minor Work Building Contract 2016 including Bron Afon’s standard prelims and amendments.

Under the terms of this contract the successful supplier(s) will be required to deliver Community Benefits in support of the authority’s economic and social objectives. Accordingly, contract performance conditions may relate in particular to social and environmental considerations. The Community Benefits included in this contract are:

Bron Afon is committed to contributing to the social, economic and environmental well-being of the wider community. Consequently Community Benefits clauses will be a mandatory contract clause. Therefore, as a minimum requirement, Tenderers will have to agree that community benefits will become part of the contract and as such, a minimum 1% cash donation will be required.

The buyer considers that this contract is suitable for consortia bidding.
