Business Wales and Tendering

Business Wales is the Welsh Government's service for businesses. We can help you with advice on starting a business, running a business, and importantly, supporting you to make your business a success.

Heathrow Expansion

Last July the Government's independent Airports Commission unanimously and unambiguously recommended the expansion of Heathrow and said that it could be done within environmental limits.

Heathrow Airport Ltd is no longer bound by OJEU and now uses an eSourcing portal for tendering and publishing the Procurement Opportunity Pipeline.  The opportunity list contains details of future tender opportunities, their estimated value, purchasing category, Category Manager details and contract renewal dates which we hope will be of assistance to you.

The Procurement team at Heathrow source an extensive range of works, goods and services for the airport - essentially everything they need to operate. Their website is the single portal for existing and potential suppliers to register with Heathrow and access current opportunities.

Register on the Heathrow eSourcing portal and view the Procurement Opportunities.

There will be plenty of future opportunities for suppliers to work on Design and Delivery packages on the Expansion Programme and for those suppliers wishing to do so register an interest on our eSourcing portal.

Supplier Opportunities - Expanding Heathrow together

The expansion of Heathrow will deliver the capacity that the UK needs to extend its international footprint. Heathrow have set ambitious objectives for the delivery of this programme with  stakeholders and  the community -  suppliers will be integral in helping us deliver on these.

The first step is to listen, learn and understand the supplier base. Heathrow want to tap into talent and bring the best innovations right to the heart of how they tackle the challenges of Expansion delivery.

Taking contracts to market that are sustainable and procure in a way that enables meaningful and active participation from suppliers existing and new.

They will collaborate with suppliers and deliver on commitments as a responsible member of the community.

Heathrow are now embarking on a comprehensive national market engagement campaign, and want to engage with large, medium and small suppliers from a wide number of industries; from demolitions and earthworks contractors to landscaping and traffic management companies.

Joint Bidding

This guide supports consortium tendering for public contracts. It can be difficult for small businesses to compete for large public contracts. This guide shows how businesses can form consortia to increase their capacity. It explains the approach taken to collaborative tendering, and how to overcome problems during a procurement process. The guide was tested in a series of pilot projects and the results are included in the Lessons learned report.
