Lloyd & Gravell contractors wish to engage with local supply chains within the South West Wales region who would be interested in working with us to deliver Design & Build Passivhaus Primary School projects at Ysgol Gorslas, Gorslas and Ysgol y Castell, Kidwelly, Carmarthenshire. These projects are being undertaken as part of the South West Wales Regional Contractors Framework for Carmarthenshire County Council and their 21st Century School Investment Programme. As an SME who is currently expanding its operations they are seeking to engage with and expand their local supply chain to support in delivering current and future projects. 

 

Appointments will be allocated on a first come basis and if you are unsuccessful in obtaining an appointment we would be interested in hearing from companies who would like to be included on our registered list.  We fully appreciate that being provided with such opportunities promotes business growth and sustainability within the region.

Our virtual Meet the Buyer (MTB) event will be in the form of 1-2-1 meetings booked in advance at 15 minute intervals and delivered via Microsoft Teams Video Conferencing. All attendees will be required to be available 5 minutes before their allocated booking time and will be required to complete registration prior to the event in order to receive the link, and background information on the project and packages. Please note that when booking your 1-2-1 slot you only need to select 1 timeslot. Please ensure that you have the required IT kit available i.e. laptop/mobile with audio and video conferencing capability. 

Business Wales will be supporting the event and provide advice for bidding as well as general and specialist business advice. Representatives from Lloyd & Gravell will be available throughout the day to answer any questions. 

 

Design & Build of New Passivhaus Primary School - Ysgol Gorslas, Gorslas, Llanelli, Carmarthenshire  -   Contract Value -  £6.5M

 

This project consists of the design and construction of a new two storey school at Gorslas, Carmarthenshire for 240 pupils including integral provision for an Early Years facility. The new building has been designed and will be constructed to the Passivhaus standard and achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating. The new building is situated on an alternative site to the existing school behind the village park. Some of the external areas will be used by the community outside of school hours. The project involves the associated infrastructure, external works, drainage and further site undertakings. Improvement works to existing external areas will be undertaken where affected by the project. 

 

The new teaching facilities will allow pupils access to an excellent learning environment that supports the delivery of high-quality education standards.

 

Design & Build of New Passivhaus Primary School - Ysgol y Castell, Kidwelly, Llanelli, Carmarthenshire  -  Contract Value £7.4M

 

Phase 1 involves the construction of the new Ysgol y Castell on the adjacent school playing field whilst the existing school remains operational.  Works include associated services, drainage installations, partial improvement to the external highway i.e. crossing point and commercial entrance, external sprinkler housing and partial external works.  The school is to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating.    

 

Phase 2 of the project will involve the demolition of the existing school, construction of the new outdoor play areas including infrastructure works, parking facilities and remaining highway improvements to Priory Street will be completed during this phase.   Demolition of the existing school will occur following the R&D survey and removal of Asbestos Containing Materials. An existing mobile classroom will also be dismantled and relocated within a 35mile radius of the Ysgol y Castell along with designing the foundation and drainage arrangements in preparation for the erection of the mobile classroom in its new location.

 

The new teaching facilities will allow pupils access to an excellent learning environment that supports the delivery of high-quality education standards.
