Filtration systems (Micro and Ultra) for Swansea University’s ESRI Bay Campus RICE Project (2)

Description of the goods or services required

To assist in the filtration for the preparation and processing the algae cultures from the photobioreactors. Swansea University is looking to obtain relevant equipment for the downstream processing of micro algae from a feedstock of ~1-4 g/L. Filtration systems are required, including microfiltration (MF) and Ultrafiltration (UF).

The MF rig should have an operating capacity of 100L/2-3hrs, membrane size 0.2um; minimum hold up of 10L. Similarly, the UF would have identical specifications as the MF with a 300,000; 100,000 and 10,000 MWCO.

All rigs require an ability to control temperature, and monitoring capabilities to measure temperature, pressure, pH, and conductivity. The footprint of all rigs must be small due to limited space (2mx1m).

The project is being funded by WEFO monies and Swansea University is seeking a real and substantial in-kind contribution from suppliers.
