The NHS Shared Services Partnership, hosted by Velindre NHS Trust are acting on behalf of Cardiff & Vale University Local Health Board to establish a contract for the maintenance and service of six robotic instruments within the Medical Genetics department
Hamilton are the sole suppliers of this service as they are the manufacturers of the instruments. They are bespoke instruments designed for the needs of the laboratory and no other suppliers would be able to provide this service.

The procurement falls outside the scope of application of the Directive
Explanation:
Hamilton are the sole suppliers of these particular specialised automated liquid handling robotic instruments as they are the manufacturers of the instruments. They are bespoke instruments designed for the needs of the laboratory and no other suppliers would be able to provide this service. On this basis the health board is applying a 10 day standstill period to allow suppliers in the market place an opportunity to appeal if they could supply the service and maintenance required for these instruments.
