Abstract

The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham will soon be going to tender for the provision of a Short Breaks Service for Children and Young People with additional needs and disabilities in the Borough. Short breaks are an integral part of our service offer to parents and carers who have a child with additional needs/ a disability. Regular breaks from caring enable parents and carers to recharge their batteries and continue to provide effective care. The aim of the framework will be to work with multiple providers who can deliver a range of services and activities for disabled children and young people to access up to the age of 18.

We will be seeking services under the following Lots:

• Lot 1 – Group Activities

• Lot 2 – Buddying and Befriending

• Lot 3 – Overnight Crisis Breaks

• Lot 4 – Services specifically for Children and young people with Autism

We want to ensure that children and young people with disabilities receive the best start in life and are able to fulfil their potential. We would like Short Breaks to be person centred, and co designed by the children and young people to ensure their needs are being met.

The Borough will be holding a market engagement event on the 5th September 2022 between 3pm to 4 pm. Providers can register their interest to attend with Katie Heppell at the following email address: Katherine.Heppell@lbbd.gov.uk
