The Trust are to carry out a project (proof of concept) over a 12-month period. The project will initially run for 6 months when through project evaluation and assessment the decision will be taken to either formally go to the market place and tender the business and or close down the project.

Should the proof of concept (6 months) prove successful, then the supplier (Healthcare at Home) will continue to run the service for the final 6 months whilst the tender process is carried out in the background.

The objective being development of a robust specification to take to the market place and provision of fit for purpose service.

New models are seen to be an integral element of the Trust plan to manage current and expected increases in activity within existing bed base, as such testing this new model must commence before the expected demand increase over the winter period.
