GMC currently has a number of Polycom end points with a complex architecture supporting it. There is also integration between Polycom and Lync using the RealConnect and ContentConnect services. Considerable investment has been made to date in Polycom, but the end points are now starting to age and the solution is expensive to own. Where possible GMC would like to retain some of its investment in Polycom, but where this is done bidders should be mindful of the objective to have a single ways of working with Skype for Business.

Need for modification brought about by circumstances which a diligent contracting authority/entity could not foresee
Description of the circumstances which rendered the modification necessary and explanation of the unforeseen nature of these circumstances:
We have increased the value of the video conference contract due to the expansion and refurbishment of parts of our office which was not contemplated at the time the VC tender was initiated. The plan was to shrink the number of meeting rooms in line with increased scheduled home-working but this has been offset by an increased number of events and meetings often with external participants requiring video conference facilities.
It has been also determined that additional video conference capacity is required as contingency for potential Brexit scenarios that may create a vastly increased communication requirement.
