Community activities can be defined as, providing a meaningful activity and social opportunities which are personalised to meet the needs of the adult. The Council is seeking to establish an approved list of suppliers who are able to offer a wide range of day time community activities to adults and young people with complex needs. The Council seeks local delivery and encourages the provision of innovative/non-traditional services. Community activities will deliver the following:
— a flexible service that is responsive to the changing needs and aspirations of individuals,
— an ethos of enablement to maximise people’s independence,
— an outcome-focused model of services,
— a continuing commitment to provide informal carers with breaks from their caring role and assistance to help them continue to care,
— a diverse range of provision enabling people to access community facilities and universal services.
