II.2.4) Description of the procurement

The Centre for Photonics Expertise is an academic partnership across Wales and centred at Glyndŵr University’s OpTIC Centre in St Asaph. Funded by the Welsh European Funding Office through the European Regional Development Fund, CPE Programme is led by Glyndŵr University in partnership with Bangor University, University of Aberystwyth and University of South Wales.

CPE’s aim is to unify the Wales Photonics research capability to deliver cross sector, industry driven photonics solutions, strengthening the Photonics market penetration of Wales “PLC” worldwide via a shared pan Wales Photonics Technology Presence. Leading to effective improvement in new product / process development for Welsh industry and creating a solid organisational foundation for future inward investments to build the Welsh economy.

An important part of the CPE operation is the establishing of a Vacuum coating facility aimed at the research and development of thin film applications and processes for the next generation of products within Welsh industry. This will be a state-of-the-art facility offering Welsh companies the opportunity to work together with academic partners to develop their next generation of products and processes. Equipped with the latest plant and metrology the facility will provide the highest standard facilities available to offer Welsh companies the opportunity to develop products to compete on the world market.

This procurement is for Supply, delivery, installation, commissioning and maintenance support for a High Vacuum Thin Film Coating Plant.

The University will reserve the right to consider alternative supply chain arrangements and will not be bound to purchase the following options under this contract.

All parts and consumables including delivery costs.

Additional Technical Implementation Consultancy Costs if required for each type of consultants.

Additional Training Consultancy Costs if required

Additional Annual Maintenance and Support Costs after the initial 24 months warranty & support. The costs to be provided for 1, 3 and 5 Years
