Forestry England is seeking expressions of interest from potential operators that are interested in bidding for the opportunity to manage a café, bike retail shop and bike repair workshop in the Forest of Dean.
In addition, Forestry England is also seeking expressions of interest from potential operators that are interested in bidding for the opportunity to provided a mountain bike uplift service on the same site.
Potential bidders will have the option to bid for each opportunity individually or together.

II.2.4) Description of the procurement
Forestry England is seeking an experienced operator that can manage a busy café, bike retail shop and bike repair workshop. The café lease area contains approximately 60 internal and 95 external covers with the retail shop currently located in an adjacent building. The concessionaire will also be responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of the public toilet facilities and bike wash within the lease area.
Forestry England is also seeking an operator to deliver a mountain bike uplift service at the Forest of Dean Cycle Centre. An uplift service has been running at the centre since 2010, dropping off riders at set locations around the Sallowvallets block of woodland, which contains the popular formal downhill trail network.
Currently, we anticipate that both concessions are 5-year business opportunities which will commence April 2023 onwards.
Please indicate in your response whether you are interested in providing the café, bike retail shop and bike repair workshop, or the mountain bike uplift service, or both.
II.2.14) Additional information
Following consideration of the initial expressions of interest, Forestry England may wish to engage in further soft market testing with respondents. Therefore, at this stage the scope of the contract and contract duration is still subject to change based on feedback from the market.
