Abstract

Denbighshire County Councils’ Highways and Environmental Services requires provision under Contract of highway grounds maintenance services at various frequencies, on highways throughout Denbighshire County Council. Rural Highway verge cutting and hedge cutting: For the purpose of the Contract, for rural highway verge cutting and hedge cutting, the County has been divided into separate Zones, and each Zone shall be awarded as a separate Contract. The Works are divided into 6 Zones being:- Zone 1 - M.A.G. areas – Rhyl, Prestatyn and Elwy Zone 2:- M.A.G. area - Denbigh Zone 3:- M.A.G. area - Ruthin. Zone 4 - M.A.G. area - Dee Valley. Zone 5 - County wide - Trunk roads. Zone 6 - County wide - Principal roads. Plans of Zones 1 to 6 are included in tender Details of the exact boundaries will be provided to each contractor at the award of Contracts. To enable the Contractor to be considered for works on Trunk and Principal roads (Zones 5 and 6 respectively), he must be able to demonstrate that Operatives have the necessary Sector Scheme 12 D accreditation in Units T1 & T2 at the time of tender submission. Weed Spraying: For the purpose of the Contract for weed spraying the Contract shall be awarded for the whole of Denbighshire County Council (Zone 7). The expected duration of the contract agreement will be 3 years plus a further 2 years subject to satisfactory performance and quality assessment. It is anticipated that the initial 3 year period will be from 1st May 2015 to 30th April 2020. The potential value of the contract will be circa 130,000 GBP per annum, circa 390,000 GBP over the initial 3 year period and circa 650,000 GBP over the potential lifetime of the contract. Denbighshire County Council encourages responses from Potential Providers demonstrating innovation with regard to delivering Value for Money principles namely ‘Quality’, ‘Performance’, ‘Cost’ and ‘Sustainable Community Benefit’. For the purpose of the Contract, for rural highway verge cutting and hedge cutting, the County has been divided into separate Zones, and each Zone shall be awarded as a separate Contract.

Weed Spraying:
