Abstract

To review approaches to GIS mapping of ‘soft constraints’ and develop a bespoke methodology for Wales to support marine plan Strategic Resource Area (SRA) identification and presentation of relevant spatial constraints. This will require reviewing current practice, working with stakeholders to identify key considerations for developing agreed weightings for relevant data layers. This project will:  Review approaches to GIS analysis to understand spatial opportunities and constraints.  Develop a bespoke methodology for Wales to support SRA mapping.  Develop scoring weighting principles and evidence base to support application of the methodology and quality assure / peer review the approach.  Produce a case study to demonstrate the application of the methodology and weightings.
