Abstract

Provision of an Integrated Urgent Care Service (IUCS) covering NHS 111 and Out Of Hours across East Kent area covered by NHS Ashford CCG, NHS Canterbury and Coastal CCG, NHS South Kent Coast CCG, and NHS Thanet CCG (the Commissioner). This is an exceptional award because the current provider has unforeseeably notified its intention to terminate provision of the current service with only a short period of notice. The service is complex and safety-critical. The time period required to conduct a competitive procurement of a replacement service with due regard to its complexity and safety critical aspects is materially longer than the time period of notice. The Commissioner is therefore awarding an interim contract to ensure continuity of the service in the short term, while also preparing to procure the substantive replacement service.
