Gwynedd Council wishes to arrange a contract for compost treatment of the collected material to BSI PAS100:2011 specification and the Quality Compost Protocol (2012).
The the overall composting requirement is anticipated to be up to 5,700 tonnes per annum (but could be more or less than this figure).
The Council have identified a value of GBP 650,000 over the contract period. However, this is an estimated value only

II.2.4) Description of the procurement
Gwynedd Council is a Waste Collection & Disposal Authority for the County of Gwynedd and is responsible for making arrangements for making collections of household waste arisings. Gwynedd Council is also responsible for ensuring the safe and proper disposal of all wastes collected.
Green Waste Kerbside Collection from households in Dwyfor and Meirionydd (3,800 tonnes)
The Authority operates a fortnightly garden waste collection service throughout its area that is collected mostly in the brown 240 litre wheeled bin. The service runs throughout the year but there is a significant seasonal decrease in the amount of material collected during November to February.
Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRC) (1,600 tonnes)
The Authority operates eight recycling centres throughout the County where the general public can bring into and dispose of household green waste into skips.
Parks and Garden Waste (290 tonnes)
The Authority’s in-house workforce is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the Authority’s various parks and gardens. The green waste generated includes grass cuttings from highway verges etc.
Christmas Trees
Christmas trees will be collected by the council either as part of the green waste kerbside collection or at our HWRC.
Therefore the overall composting requirement is anticipated to be up to 5,700 tonnes per annum (but could be more or less than this figure).
The Supplier will be required to deal with the Green Waste in accordance with all relevant legislation and guidelines and any instructions issued by the Authority and/or Natural Resources Wales.
