Abstract

Temporary structure for staging outdoor events Supply a flexible solution to staging a wide range of events within Cardigan Castle grounds. The range of possible events could include the following (though by no means an exclusive list): - open air theatre for family and adult audiences - music of all kinds: opera, folk, choral, world, rock, pop etc - comedy - circus events (non-animal) - eisteddfod-type and other specifically cultural Welsh events - performances by local community groups - open air film screenings, including classic film, current releases, recorded live broadcasts of opera, music etc The structure should be able to be erected easily and efficiently by a maximum of 4 crew with no professional rigging qualifications – ( no climbing / use of harnesses ) and within a reasonable amount of time. The design must have an aesthetically appealing appearance to compliment the surrounding environment and should consider the sensitivity of the heritage site with minimal impact on the regency gardens that are an important all year round attraction. The proposed location is at the south west end of the garden on a grass lawn in front of a curved area of bushes and plants, the front of stage facing the flat grounds towards castle green house. Design must be able to include or accommodate a stage floor of approximately 8 x 6 meters and 1.5 meters height with a ramp for easy access of equipment and to provide wheelchair access to stage.
