Description:

Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council (BGCBC) are seeking tenders from a professional and reputable company to undertake a Grass Cutting Service for Public Parks, Sports-fields, Play Areas, Open Spaces and Cemeteries within the borough. The Grounds Maintenance section manages the grass cutting operations of Public Parks, Sports-fields, Play Areas, Open Spaces and Cemeteries within the County Borough. The Council currently cuts grass seasonally at the above-mentioned sites between the months of April and October following an agreed scheduled cutting cycle. The operational procedure for the open space areas is that Council employed compact tractor drivers work independently cutting large areas, with manual crews following behind cutting the areas that are inaccessible to the tractors i.e. banking’s, obstacles and fence lines etc. using strimmers, pedestrian mowers and blowers. Additionally, to support biodiversity initiatives within the borough, areas have been identified for only an annual cut. These areas have been identified on the open spaces schedule maps as a red hatched area. Where possible the areas will be cut by council tractors, but some areas will require manual cutting which is reflected in the 6th cut being a higher meterage. Cemeteries are all cut manually using strimmer’s, pedestrian mowers, and blowers. The Authority is therefore seeking to tender the services of a suitably qualified and experienced contractor to: 1.Work alongside the existing Grounds Maintenance team (tractor drivers) to undertake the seasonal grass-cutting operations for open spaces, identified parks and play areas and; 2.Undertake seasonal grass-cutting operations at four (4) identified cemeteries.
