Description:
Wrexham County Borough Council (WCBC) has appointed a single Contractor to carry out responsive maintenance and installation of Communal Digital Aerial specific systems for domestic and non-domestic properties. The Contract Term will be for two years with the option to extend for a further two periods of two years. Currently WCBC has approximately 370 Communal Television Distribution Systems throughout the County Borough comprising of - 255 Integrated Reception Systems (IRS): Providing a full range of television signals (satellite and terrestrial, analogue and digital) and radio (both FM and DAB) to every home covered by the system. This broad range is intended to provide the widest possible choice to tenants in deciding which services to use. It will also enable the provision of interactive TV services. - 96 Master Antenna TV systems (MATV): This system is primarily to provide access to UHF terrestrial analogue and digital signals and is capable of carrying other services such as FM radio and DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting). A MATV system comprises a UHF aerial to receive the TV signals, an amplifier to raise the signal levels, and a distribution network of coaxial cables to deliver the signals to users. - 20 Satellite Master Antenna TV (SMATV) systems have been used to extend the MATV concept to include services broadcast by satellite where an IRS system could not be fitted.
