Description:
Bridgend County Borough Council (BCBC) is issuing a Contract Award Notice for the Blackmill River Bridge Replacement. See below for the description published on ETenderWales when tendering the contract. "This is a Further Competition of the County Council of the City and County of Cardiff, South East and Mid Wales Highways Framework Agreement Dated January 2023, Lot 8 refers. Tender Registration Number: SEWH-3337 Brief description of Works: The project principally involves the replacement of the existing Blackmill River Bridge. Blackmill River Bridge is a single span structure (approx. 15m) comprising 9 No. segmental reinforced concrete post-tensioned beams (including ‘Macalloy’ bars and end plates as the post tensioning system) supporting a reinforced concrete (RC) deck slab. The existing structure is in a poor condition; cracks were evident in the top of the southbound carriageway bridge deck slab. The central slab construction joint is failing with rainwater ingress onto the central beam. A Post Tensioned Special Inspection was undertaken to determine the condition of the Macalloy bars, which were found to have only minor surface corrosion and were observed to be within competent grout. The works are described in detail in The Scope (Appendix 2 to the Agreement). Contract Terms and Conditions: Institution of Civil Engineers’ NEC 4 Engineering and Construction Contract, June 2017 (incorporating October 2020 amendments) - Option A (Priced Contract with Activity Schedule). All Tenderers must be Registered and Verified on Constructionline to a minimum of Bronze Membership with Safety Systems in Procurement (SSIP) Accreditation. The Successful Bidder will be required to operate and manage a Project Bank Account (PBA) to ensure that all contractors involved in the delivery of the contract are paid within 30-days of a properly reconciled invoice. See Tender Documents."
