Threshold DAS Limited has been the provider of domestic abuse services in Carmarthenshire for over 38 years and was formed in September 1984. We are a unique organisation dedicated to the elimination of domestic abuse; we do this by providing a complete 'wrap around' service working with the whole family. It has become increasingly clear that if we are to break the cycle on domestic abuse it means tackling it with the whole family. We were previously called Llanelli Women’s Aid (2018) but changed our name to better reflect the inclusivity of our organisation.
Threshold delivers emotional and practical support to individuals and children affected by domestic abuse. Services include: the provision of open access information and advice centre, emergency refuge accommodation for women and their children including:

We provide advice and support to access services such as housing, benefits, health, and well-being, parenting, substance misuse support, self-harming, and legal issues. We also work directly with children and young people who are often the forgotten victims of domestic abuse to ensure they can access services that are age appropriate for them and meet all their needs.
Individuals and their children suffering domestic abuse are disproportionately affected by unemployment, poverty, and family breakdown. We anticipate that increased pressure on already struggling families as a result of cuts will mean an increase in the number of individuals and their children suffering domestic abuse, resulting in worsening poverty, increased violence resulting from stress and depression, increased conflict in families under significant financial pressure and demand for our services soaring as our own funding reduces.
