Abstract

Conwy County Borough Council wishes to appoint a suitably qualified consultant to look at how our Play Parks are used by residents. We wish to do this collaboratively with our communities and third sector organisations. We want to identify opportunities to develop the areas to benefit users of all ages through looking at environmental improvements, improvements for access and opportunities for health and wellbeing. This approach will look at the long-term sustainability and operation of our play parks.

Conwy County Borough Council wishes to appoint a suitably qualified consultant to look at how our Play Parks are used by residents. We wish to do this collaboratively with our communities and third sector organisations. We want to identify opportunities to develop the areas to benefit users of all ages through looking at environmental improvements, improvements for access and opportunities for health and wellbeing. This approach will look at the long-term sustainability and operation of our play parks.

Total quantity or scope of tender

The priority will be delivering quality green spaces that are accessible to all contributing to good standard of local environmental quality and developing a sense of place and community that residents can be proud of. This work will identify Sustainable Management of Natural Resources (SMNR) interventions that will benefit our parks and communities. Loose parts, a varied landscape, sights, sounds, sensations and smells are all an inherent part of providing a rich play environment and can be used to create a space that is more inclusive.

There are approximately 146 parks within Conwy County that are managed and owned by the Local Authority. These parks range from playgrounds, play parks, Multi Use Game Areas(MUGA), skate parks, playing fields, outdoor gyms and some paddling pools.

It is anticipated that the contract will be from November 2020 to February 2021.
