Newport Station: Staff Facilities Refurbishment Speculative Notice

The TfW Station Projects team are committed to improving staff facilities across Wales and Borders network which will provide adequate rest and break areas and facilities for Operational train crew, Station staff and TfW Catering staff which are fit for purpose.

The purpose of this speculative notice is to alert the market of a potential upcoming tender opportunity, to be advertised as a sub-threshold Works tender on sell2wales. TfW recognise the pressures facing suppliers in ensuring that they have adequate notice to line up resource to bid for work. TfW therefore want to take this opportunity to provide advance notice of this tender opportunity for improvement works of staff facilities at Newport Station. It is anticipated that TfW will issue the tender over the next three weeks, with an anticipated tender return date during May 2023.

The priority is focusing on Newport Station where the current facilities for staff are unsuitable and do not reflect the working environment that we would expect to provide our employees. The current staff facility accommodation is located on Platform 2/3 with the Catering Operation located on Platform 4. The staff facilities accommodation is comprised of a customer service office, kitchen, duty managers office, 2no locker rooms, training room. The Catering accommodation consists of a Catering preparation facility, service centre, overflow storage room and additional storage room.

High level scope is set to include, but not limited to; new LED Lighting, new flooring, new/additional M&E, plumbing, ventilation, redecoration etc. The approximate value range is £200-250k. We anticipate contract award and mobilisation period in June 2023, with an anticipated on-site start date of July 2023 and anticipated completion date in September 2023.
