Title: Development of WaveSub Prototype Deployment System
Published by: Marine Power Systems Ltd
Publication Date: 12/08/2020
Deadline Date: 08/09/2020
Deadline Time: 12:00
Notice Type: Contract Notice
Has Documents: No
Has ESPD: No
Abstract: Marine Power Systems (MPS) is developing flexible ocean energy extraction technology that can harness wave energy (WaveSub), wind energy (WindSub) and combined wind and wave energy (DualSub). All the machines share a common floating platform technology developed by and proprietary to MPS that has cost and deployment advantages over other floating platform approaches.
Marine Power Systems (MPS) have developed a deployment concept for use on all of their ocean energy extracting technologies which share a common floating platform. The platform is stayed by a tension leg mooring system.
The deployment system concept provides the pull in and tensioning for the mooring system using primary and secondary chain and chain jack system. The deployment system encompasses these key components as well as the control system and peripheries needed for operation such as hydraulic power supplies and onboard crane.
The work being tendered in this package is to provide a recommendation for the most optimized solution, and the preliminary and detailed design for the deployment system for the full scale WaveSub prototype which will be manufactured in 2021.
The system will need to be designed to work together with other subsystems to enable a safe and efficient deployment process at sea.
The detailed scope is provided in D-WPAC-18 and will be provided to applicants on completion of an NDA.
