Abstract

Expression of interest for commercial partners with shared values Wales Rugby League are seeking expressions of interest for a Commercial partner to lead on our Commercial Sponsorship strategy and identify and obtain sponsorship opportunities for Wales Rugby League. Inclusive values Wales Rugby League (WRL) are the governing body for all variations of Rugby League in Wales. Rugby League has always had a rich heritage of inclusion, equality, and diversity. It is a heritage that we are immensely proud of, since the 1895 Rugby League has welcomed players of all ethnicities and backgrounds. These players include Clive Sullivan who was the first ever black player to captain a national team in Great Britain, Roy Francis, Colin Dixon and Billy Boston. We also signed the first openly gay professional player in Gareth Thomas. We currently run Men, Women’s, boys, girls, Masters, Wheelchair, Physical Disability and Learning Disability Rugby League teams. The Strategy of Wales Rugby League is: “To make Rugby League accessible to everyone in Wales through a Lifelong Participation in the Sport” 2022 World Cup Opportunities Men, Wheelchair and Physical Disability Rugby League (PDRL) 2022 is an exciting year for Wales Rugby League with 3 teams (Men’s, Wheelchair and Physical Disability) participating in a World Cup in October/November 2022 which will be broadcast to a global audience of 20 million, all games will be televised on BBC and an estimated 120 plus broadcast markets. We will also be launching our Strategy for 2022-2025 leading up to the next world cup in France in 2025. Women Our Women’s team will also be playing 3 international games and our Cardiff Blue Dragons women’s team will be the first ever Welsh team in the Super League South with a view to entering the National Women’s Super League in 2025. Under 19s and Students We also run international squads at under 19, s representing Wales in the European Championships, our students will be taking part in the Student Home Nations along with our under 16s who will be playing Internationals in 2022.
