Abstract

Gunpowder Works Landslip Further Geological Investigation and Design, and Costing of Safe Bypass Option In spring 2021 there was a landslip that removed a small section of the historic tramroad which also forms the easy access route to the Gunpowder Works building. The Gunpowder Works is owned by Brecon Beacons National Park Authority. Initial geotechnical investigations have been completed and will be available following the award of tender. However further geotechnical investigations into rock slope condition and profile to allow design of permanent slope stabilisation and path reinstatement works. Investigation likely to comprise 3 No boreholes to min 10m depth with interpretive report. Outline scheme design to develop 2 possible scheme solutions (a rock anchored solution and an elevated pathway solution) as sketch sections (RIBA 2) with sufficient detail to allow initial pricing. QS to be appointed to provide outline costing information for both scheme solutions. This report should be written up into a format that can be advertised on Sell2Wales, for fabrication quotes and installation quotes.
