Abstract

Cardiff & Vale University Health Board has a requirement to replace 10 Intracranial Pressure (ICP) Monitors currently in use. The ICP monitor measures intracranial pressure in patients with brain injury and serves to aid in the management of these patients by ensuring that life saving interventions (both medical and surgical) are performed in a timely fashion before irreversible injury/damage is done. II.2.4) Description of the procurement

There are currently 10 ICP Monitors in University Hospital of Wales that require urgent replacement due to anticipated supply disruption, Cardiff & Vale University Health Board invites suppliers to express interest in supporting this requirement.

The ICP Monitor required must be:

Multimodal – able to detect other vital parameters besides pressure such as oxygen monitoring and temperature.

Patient friendly and as minimally invasive as possible

Robust and not fail mechanically or electronically.

Reliable and precise in its measurement over its period of use.

Safe for use and no reported problems with retention of the ICP probe or parts thereof.

Easy to use for both surgeons implanting the device and health staff using it for monitoring.

Interoperable – compatible with medical equipment already in use.

Able to record patient identifiable information and the data captured to allow for review of the latter for clinical decision making. This data should need able to be extracted with ease in both raw data and readable format. The ICP monitor should ideally be also be usable in isolation (in addition to being plugged in to other devices)

Able to either retain settings in the case of power failure or have a backup power supply to mitigate for the latter.
