Abstract

Menter Mon, together with its partners, wish to appoint a suitable and qualified contractor to undertake a variety of conservation work, with volunteers, in all three LNR’s mentioned above. The sessions will be run on a weekly basis, every Tuesday between 10am – 3pm (however the day and time might change depending on the seasons / weather / number of volunteers etc). It is envisaged that sessions may not run during holiday periods such as Christmas, but extra sessions will instead be incorporated during the year. The working day will run from 9am – 5pm with the volunteers on site between 10am and 3pm. It will be necessary to keep a record of attendance as evidence for volunteers to bank their time for professional training provided by Cwlwm Seiriol. The contract will run for a 10-month period from the 1st November 2019 to 31st August 2020 (42 conservation / volunteering sessions). The exact locations and nature of the work will be decided upon by Menter Mon staff and its partners. These will be supplied to the successful contractor in advance with the type of work varying in accordance with the seasons and the requirements of the project. Please note that due to the nature of the project last minute changes might occur during the contract period. See below a list indicating the type of conservation work involved during the 10-month period: • Invasive Non-Native Species plant control e.g. Himalayan Balsam, Montbretia • Habitat management using traditional methods e.g. scything, coppicing • Scrub control and stump treatment • Woodland management – small scale tree felling and branch cutting • Pond restoration and ditch management • Brush cutting • Scarification and green seeding • Heathland restoration and management • Footpath maintenance e.g. stone pitching, boardwalk maintenance and repair • Fencing • Dry stone walling • Woodland crafts and bushcraft
