WRAP Cymru is working to assist public sector organisations in Wales by incorporating sustainability into their commercial strategies and procurement activities.
The Welsh public sector spends approximately £6 billion each year on goods and services. As such, there is a significant opportunity for public bodies to use procurement positively to achieve beneficial environmental, economic and social outcomes and to help deliver the ‘Wales We Want’ objectives of the Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act.
The primary aim of the support programme is to drive the market for recycled content and re-used goods, and in doing so, raise awareness, promote a more long-term sustainable approach to procurement and demonstrate, through showcasing best practice examples, leadership shown by public sector organisations in more sustainable procurement.
