The SBRI Centre of Excellence has launched three exciting new challenges.

The SBRI Centre of Excellence has collaborated with Cardiff and Vale UHB, Betsi Cadwaladr UHB, Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB and other Health Boards across Wales to release their latest cohort of SBRI competitions and are looking to business and academia for their solutions. Welsh Government funding is available for the successful applications.

 

Challenge 1: Patient Communications

Funding is available for businesses and academia to work with colleagues within Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board and other Health Boards across Wales to develop innovative solutions to help improve access to information for relatives of patients whilst their loved ones are in hospital and reduce the demand on staff time.

Challenge 2: MSK disorders for ENT Surgeons

On this challenge, funding is available for businesses and academia to work with Ear Nose and Throat Surgeons (ENT) Surgeons from Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board and other Health Boards across Wales to develop innovative solutions that can improve the ergonomics for ENT while performing Endoscopic Ear Surgery.

Challenge 3: Safe and Ethical Disposal of Nitrous Oxide and Entonox Medical Gases

 

Funding is available for businesses and academia to work with colleagues from Cardiff and Vale University Health Board and other Health Boards across Wales to develop and demonstrate innovative solutions that for the safe disposal of these gases, specifically around the following two themes:

  • Theme 1 – safe disposal of gas within partly filled nitrous oxide cylinders prior to return to the supplier 
  • Theme 2 – a solution to the problem of the high levels of Entonox being released into the atmosphere following consumption on our wards
