Call to micro and small businesses active and growing their operations in Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire, Swansea and Neath Port Talbot.
Grants of between £25,000 and £50,000 are available to businesses to develop net zero initiatives for industry.
Project proposals will contribute to South West Wales’s ambition to decarbonise the region’s industries.
The New Innovators competition, part of the Net Zero Industry in South West Wales Launchpad, is funded by Innovate UK and will award up to £1.5m in total, launching in mid-May.
Projects will be 100% grant funded with no requirement for match. The projects will need to focus on sustainable, alternative, renewable energy, electrification, carbon dioxide capture, low carbon heat and or net zero skills development. Each project will contribute to the nation’s goal of reaching Net Zero Carbon by 2050, including:
- Offshore wind (FLOW) Celtic Sea
- Novel onshore renewable generation
- Green or blue hydrogen production and distribution
- CO2 capture, distribution and storage
- Sustainable fuel and platform chemical production
- Fuel switching
- Electrification
- Low carbon heat distribution and utilisation
- Mini grid community systems
- Supporting innovation in skills development
- Net zero industrial innovation
