From January 2025 the Welsh Government will require all individuals undertaking Government Social Research projects to be signed up to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Update Service if their role within the proposed response to the Invitation To Tender requires a DBS check. This is to allow the Welsh Government to confirm any results as required.

In addition, as part of tender responses the Welsh Government will imminently be introducing a form for bidders to list all staff that would require a DBS check according to the specification and state if the DBS check is ‘clear’ (where no convictions are listed) or ‘adverse’ (where any convictions at all are listed on the certificate). A justification for being able to carry out the work on the back of an adverse result will be required for any individual affected.
