North East Wales. River Dee and Bala Lake/Afon Dyfrdwy a Llyn Tegid Special Area of Conservation (SAC). All work to be carried out within the SAC.
II.2.4) Description of the procurement
The purpose of the requirement is to deliver conservation actions on behalf of LIFE Dee River project within Dee River and Llyn Tegid SAC. LIFE Dee River is a 6.8mGBP project under the EU LIFE program and focuses on the restoration of freshwater features in River Dee and Bala Lake/Afon Dyfrdwy a Llyn Tegid SAC. The scope of the restoration works under this framework includes: -
Introduction of gravels, boulders and large woody debris into the water courses to create habitats and restore natural features
Creating riverside corridors with fencing along the Dee and its tributaries thereby reducing the impacts of livestock and pollutants entering the watercourses
Planting of trees to improve riparian zone habitat, stabilise banks and reduce erosion
Partial weir removal and reprofiling
Minor works including small culvert works and construction of footbridges
On farm works to reduce nutrients and sediments entering watercourses
