Abstract
RSPB Cymru is looking to appoint a contractor to deliver peatland restoration works in and around the Lake Vyrnwy estate. The contractor will be working to raise water tables across blanket bog by blocking drainage ditches and gullies and reprofiling exposed peat hags. The restoration will be registered under, and completed in accordance with, the Peatland Code, a voluntary standard for peatland restoration work.
Split into two Lots, the priority will be to block and reprofile all drainage and erosion features across the 827 hectare Rhiwargor peatland restoration site. This work must be completed by 31st March 2022.
Further blanket bog restoration is also planned during winter 2021/22 elsewhere on the reserve but the exact location and area to be restored are dependent on the available funding. Tenders will also be considered for a contract to deliver these additional works.
