Planning Directorate is responsible for producing guidance on how the requirements of The Conservation of Habitats and Species
Regulations 2017 (as amended following EU exit) are to be
implemented through the land use planning system in Wales. The Habitats Regulations have been amended following EU exit,
case law has moved on and Natural Resources Wales has published planning advice on revised phosphate targets:

The last all-Wales training programme in this policy area was delivered in 2016. Planning Directorate has received queries
about implementation of the Habitat Regulations and requests for further training.
Required is a further programme of training given the amended Regulations, case law and publication of revised phosphate targets advice, to instruct and update staff in this policy area.
