The University is inviting tenders for the provision of an external audit service, for an initial period of 5 yearswith an option for the University to extend for a further period of up to 2 years. The successful firm will take upits appointment in respect of the audit of the accounts for the financial year ended 31.7.2016. The appointmentwill be made in accordance with the Audit Code of Practice issued by the Higher Education Funding Council forWales (HEFCW).

VII.2) Information about modifications
VII.2.1) Description of the modifications
The contract is to be extended to cover the audit required for the University’s 2021 financial year. The contract also covers non-statutory audits that cover the wider university, this extension will cover the wider audit requirements of the University until a replacement contract has been tendered.

Need for modification brought about by circumstances which a diligent contracting authority/entity could not foresee
Description of the circumstances which rendered the modification necessary and explanation of the unforeseen nature of these circumstances:
Since March 2020 the Covid-19 pandemic has required Finance stakeholders to focus their efforts on a shift to home working and maintaining continuity of financial services . These challenges continued though 2021. The modification does not alter the overall nature of the contract, Any increase in price does not exceed 50% of the value of the original contract.
