The Council require a Geotechnical Consultant / Engineer to prepare enquiry documents, drawings and specifications to identify appropriate scale and scope of investigations, input into the tender process and supervise the works.
The Geotechnical Consultant / Engineer will be required to prepare enquiry documents, drawings and specifications to ensure the following, as a minimum but not limited to, are obtained from any future tendering exercise;
• Desk Study of Proposed Development Site
• Site Investigations
• Field Tests
• Off Site testing and analysis
• Geotechnical Interpretative report of findings
• Provision of supervising party for on-site works – Chartered Engineer or Chartered Geologist.

1.01 Provision of supervising Chartered Engineer or Chartered Geologist for onsite investigation works.
1.02 Prepare scope of Desk Study, identify essential outcomes and Quality Standards for the execution of a Desk Study.
1.03 Identify scope of works for Site Investigations, provide specification for the works and provide setting out drawing for the trial pits, boreholes and any other intrusive methods.
1.04 Identify scope, location and specification for Field Tests.
1.05 Identify scope, location and specification for Off Site testing and analysis
1.06 Define content, scope and format of Geotechnical Interpretative report to be provided as part of the Site Investigations.
1.07 Make allowance for Providing commentary and making recommendations concerning all tenders received for the onsite investigations.
1.5 Hours for Senior Engineer to attend contractors Pre Contract Meeting.
o Attend and present progress report on activities at Project Progress Meeting via Microsoft Teams
1.08 Working under Coronavirus Covid-19 Pandemic restrictions
1.09 Submission of all information electronically. Excel, Word, AutoCAD 2018 – dwg format. Including pdf copies. All wording to be in format type, size and font Arial 11. Drawing to be to an agreed standard, format and title.

2.01 Prepare and issue Programme of Works, Risk Assessment & Method Statement for all on site works.
2.02 Establish Site Set up / Fencing to excavations / Site Welfare for full duration of works on site

2.05 Clear all waste / excavated material on completion of works
2.06 Carry out Site investigations, two boreholes at each location indicated on drawing, positioned 2m apart -
• 1st Borehole to collect soil samples and confirm site geology drilled down to natural ground level / bearing strata. Estimated maximum depth of 20m
• 2nd Borehole to collect soil samples and confirm site geology drilled down 3m only.
2.07 Gas monitoring of all boreholes, over a six week period in accordance with BS8485:2019 and recommended good practice.
2.08 Carry out Site investigations - trial pits (TBC) to max depth of 2 metres
2.09 Carry out backfill & reinstatement to all trial pits and boreholes to match existing construction.
2.10 Clear Site Set Up / Welfare
2.11 Provide Site Drawing / Survey confirming the GPS co-ordinates of all boreholes and trial pits.
2.12 Carry out Soil Testing and Analysis of all samples using UKAS accredited laboratory to assess risk as a minimum from corrosive or aggressive contaminants, asbestos, radon or former site use.
2.13 Provide testing for the whole families of both Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons and Poly Aromatic Hydrocarbons with interpretive report to consider contamination on the site all in in accordance with MCERTS specification.
