Abstract

The H2ACE project aims to investigate the anaerobic conversion of renewable hydrogen and industrial carbon dioxide to acetic acid. To facilitate this research, a new pilot plant facility will be built at the University of South Wales Hydrogen Centre on the Baglan Energy Park, Port Talbot.

Description of the goods or services required

The Sustainable Environment Research Centre(SERC) at USW has a requirement for a bioreactor vessel as part of the H2ACE pilot plant construction. The H2ACE project aims to investigate the anaerobic conversion of renewable hydrogen and industrial carbon dioxide to acetic acid. To facilitate this research, a new pilot plant facility will be built at the University of South Wales Hydrogen Centre on the Baglan Energy Park, Port Talbot.

Total quantity or scope of tender

System Specification

• Working volume ~150 L

• Headspace volume ~40 L

• Height of reactor ~1.5 m

• Diameter of reactor ~0.5 m

• Wall thickness to meet max design pressure of 6 bar

• Material 316 stainless steel

• Cylindrical vessel with a conical base and flat top lidded section.

• Bosses 1 inch BSPT female with 1 inch BSPT diameter

• Top lid Flat - 14 bosses

• Finish 2B – smooth for easy cleaning and corrosion resistance

• Reactor stand must be secure and able to be screwed to the floor. The reactor will be heated via a heating jacket around the outside (this can be custom made, although the stand must not interfere with this)

• Height of feet from floor to the edge of the bottom boss: 20 cm.

• The top lid will be mechanically secured to the cylindrical section

• Reactor and all fittings must be gas tight

Drawings are provided by us for illustration purposes only and USW will enter into final design discussions with the successful supplier.

Initial drawings are required from all interested parties to this tender upon submission.

Minimum standards and qualification required

Proven track record of designing and manufacturing vessels of a similar nature. Examples of a similar nature required to be evidenced in the submission.

Capable of delivering the requirements as per the specification detailed in the document.

Be able to meet all the technical requirements as stipulated in the equipment specification.

Be capable of delivering the requirements in line with the indicated lead times.
