Abstract
Tech Tyfu is a Vertical Farming Pilot Scheme delivered through Menter Môn. It has received funding through the Welsh Government Rural Communities – Rural Development Programme 2014-2020, which is funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and the Welsh Government. The Tech Tyfu Scaleup project will build on the successes of the pilot project, which has been running since January 2020, to facilitate and deliver vertical farming equipment to business who are looking to sell locally grown produce through short supply chains. The project is delivered by Menter Mon and funded through the Welsh Government Rural Communities – Rural Development Programme (2014-2020), the project will run between May 2022 and June 2023. The Tech Tyfu Scaleup project aims to strengthen and develop new and existing local, fresh food supply chains, which will help promote food tourism and establish a sense of place throughout Wales. Tech Tyfu Scaleup will be working with growers and businesses to deliver this project. The project is open to applicants based anywhere in Wales, and is targeted at growers, businesses, and individuals. Participants will join an accelerator programme where they will receive a package of support including funding towards equipment design, supply chain development support, design engineering support and continual training and development. Successful projects will be supported by our delivery team to realise their successful design concept.
As part of the contract with Welsh Government, there is a requirement for Tech Tyfu to evaluate the delivery of the programme against the delivery profile key indicators. The successful consultant will be required to consult on content and provide regular updates to the Menter Môn and Tech Tyfu staff.
