Abstract

The NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership, hosted by Velindre NHS Trust are acting on behalf of Cardiff and Vale University Local Health Board to work alongside a contractor to provide a hearing aid service. The NHS provides a totally free hearing aid service. The NHS ‘behind the ear’ range of hearing aids are adequate acoustically but are considered by many patients to be large and cosmetically unattractive. Currently adult patients who wish to obtain the small ‘in the ear’ style of hearing aid must purchase them from commercial hearing aid dealers unless they fulfil specific clinical criteria. The Audiology department wishes to work in partnership with a commercial hearing aid dealer. If an NHS patient expresses an interest in purchasing a commercial hearing aid, he or she will be referred to the commercial hearing aid dealer. If the referral results in a sale the profit will be divided between the Audiology Department and the hearing aid dealer. THIS IS AN INCOME GENERATION CONTRACT. https://etenderwales.bravosolution.co.uk/web/login.shtml for the full specification of the CT scanner and to propose bids. NOTE: The authority is using eTender wales to carry out this procurement process.
