Abstract

As part of the SEEC project, Bangor University continues to gather marine data to support crucial research associated with low-carbon initiatives in the marine renewable energy sector and studies associated with climate change related environmental impact. Crucial to this, is the ability to collect high quality bathymetric data from the nearshore marine environment, estuaries and lakes using a portable hydrographic survey system. Since 2011, Bangor University has established itself as a leader in offshore marine bathymetry survey and data collection and wishes to expand its nearshore survey capability to enhance and support existing research activities. This will be achieved through the procurement of a new stand-alone fully-integrated pole-mounted multibeam/motion/position reference system capable of collecting high quality bathymetry and normalised backscatter data from a range of nearshore, estuarine and freshwater environments using either of our two inshore survey vessels ‘Macoma’ and ‘Mya’, together with other vessels of opportunity. Along with the equipment purchase we are looking also for a servicing agreement and warranties for up to 5 years. CPV: 38290000, 38290000, 38113000.
