II.2.4) Description of the procurement
Bridgend County Borough Council is commissioning a Sensory Support Service to support people in Bridgend who have sensory loss. The Council are committed to securing quality provision and wishes to appoint one provider who have proven ability, suitably qualified staff and experience of delivering a high quality service in supporting people with a sensory loss. This could include people with a dual sensory loss, or who are Deaf or hard of hearing – as well as mental health issues, physical or learning disabilities. The service will support individuals to achieve positive outcomes through the promotion of independence, engagement and participation in the local community. The service will need to be able to facilitate individualised communication methods in order to increase confidence, knowledge, development of skills and techniques for everyday living. The service will improve opportunities for individuals to engage in activities such as education, work, training, health and leisure using appropriate escorting and guiding techniques, practical support to access the community, signposting and the provision of accessible and relevant information in appropriate formats.
