Abstract

Keeper’s Pond is a waterbody, recently designated as a reservoir, of 1.48 hectares situated near the town of Blaenavon within the Brecon Beacons (Bannau Brycheiniog) National Park. Purpose of this contract 1. To provide a robust and definitive answer to the question of which species of Crayfish are present in Keeper’s Pond, its inlets, and outlet and the smaller ponds to the south and west of the carpark through surveys. 2. To review whether the population of American signal crayfish present, poses a risk to nearby White clawed crayfish populations. 3. To present costed options for potential American signal crayfish control, in order to prevent their spread particularly protecting any White clawed crayfish populations nearby.

Description of the goods or services required

Purpose of this contract

3.1

Minimum standards and qualification required

The successful contractor will have demonstrated and provided one or more examples to the selection panel that they have a strong, working understanding of and experience of working with crayfish.

The successful contractor will need to demonstrate they have sufficient capacity and flexibility to deliver the project within the agreed timeframe. The successful contractor will also be

responsible for his/her own travel and subsistence, risk assessments and insurance.

Evidence of relevant NRW Class licence(s) to survey for crayfish will be part of the tender submission
