Description of the goods or services required
Bridgend County Borough Council (BCBC) invites you to submit a Tender for the Demolition of Brackla 1 Car Park
BCBC intends appointing a Principal Contractor to fully undertake and assume full responsibility for the delivery of the Contract, in close liaison with the Authority’s Appointed Person(s).
The Authority requires that the Principal Contractors / Sub-contractors with a responsibility for Works maintains a Registered and Verified status on Constructionline throughout the term of any Contract awarded by the Authority.
Brief description: The project involves the demolition and site clearance at the Brackla Multi Storey Car Park. The demolition will include all buildings and external areas within the site boundary. The building is located on Cheapside between the Aldi and Asda supermarkets with a live railway line running to the rear of the site. The Brackla MSCP consists of a five-storey structure comprising a reinforced concrete frame, reinforced concrete floors with precast concrete external parapet walls and two pedestrian access stairwells. The car park was constructed using a method known as ‘Lift Slab’ construction. This technique comprised the erection of reinforced concrete columns around which continuous reinforced concrete floor slabs were formed at ground level. Once set and in place the floor slabs were mechanically jacked up around the columns and wedges inserted to secure the slabs to columns. The slabs at all levels are profiled to provide integral ramp connections to each floor.
Contract Terms and Conditions: NEC3 Engineering and Construction Contract (April 2013) (the “NEC”), Option A. See the Supplementary Contract Conditions applicable to all Bridgend County Borough Council Contracts, separate published document.
