Caswell Clinic and Taith Newydd wards are Mental Health Units situated at Glanrhyd Hospital in Bridgend.
Caswell Clinic consists of five wards in total; two acute assessment and treatment wards (Tenby and Cardigan wards), one rehabilitation ward (Ogmore ward) one high dependency ward (Penarth ward) and one female admission ward (Newton Ward). There are a total of 61 beds.
Taith Newydd wards consists of two low secure male only inpatient wards; Rowan and Cedar wards. There are a total of 28 beds.
Caswell Clinic is commissioned by NHS Wales Joint Commissioning Committee to serve the populations of Swansea Bay University Health Board (SBUHB), Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board, Hywel Dda University Health Board, Cardiff and Vale University Health Board and Powys Teaching Health Board. Taith Newydd wards provides care for patients from Bridgend, Swansea, and Neath and Port Talbot. SBUHB is in the process of installing a bespoke dental suite at Caswell Clinic, which will be completed by late May 2025. SBUHB are seeking to procure the delivery of this dental service in line with the criteria outlined in this specification.
Three sessions of 4 hours per week are required in the first year. It is anticipated that a reduction to two sessions will be required from the second year. Sessions are to be delivered by a multi-disciplinary team. When treating patients, dental clinicians must always be supported by a Dental Care Professional (DCP) or, in exceptional circumstances, another healthcare professional.
The service will operate for 52 weeks per year as detailed below:
Year 1:
- Monday
- Wednesday
- Friday
From Year 2 onwards:
- Tuesday
- Friday
Time of day for each session will be agreed between Service and Provider.
The dental team is to allow 30 minutes during each session for both preparation and clear up.
The sessional rate will be 495.29 GBP, which is inclusive of all costs, including consumables, cleaning, sterilization, additional equipment and staffing.
