Fire Engineer Stage 3+ Plas Gunter Mansion

Description of the goods or services required

Plas Gunter Mansion Trust is seeking to appoint a Fire Engineer with experience of working on heritage buildings.

The Trust was awarded a Delivery Phase grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund in early October 2025 to conserve and transform Gunter Mansion, a Grade II* listed 17th century building in Abergavenny.

We have also been awarded £300,000 of match funding which has to be spent by the end of March 2026 so we have confirmed the appointment of the existing base build designers who will undertake several discrete packages of work and the RIBA Stage 4 design.

The Trust wishes to appoint an experienced Fire Engineer as soon as possible to work with the Design Team.

Total quantity or scope of tender

The base build construction budget excluding VAT and consultant fees is £2,269,506. Revision 5 is £2,288,634. This includes contingency and inflation.

The Fire Engineer contract will be for a fixed term for the Delivery Phase of the project from January 2026 until expected completion in October 2027.

3 Conditions for Participation

3.1

Minimum standards and qualification required

You MUST have experience of working on heritage buildings.

You are required to supply the information listed below to enable evaluation of the bid:

• Fee and resource broken down by RIBA Stages, including day rates plus any assumptions and exclusions.

• Qualitative criteria (see next page).

• Details of two referees for work of a similar nature.

• Copies of public, employers’ and professional indemnity insurance certificates (if relevant).
