Welsh Government - Skills Audit for Wales

The Welsh Government wishes to commission a skills audit to identify what Wales’s skills priorities should be now and into the future.
The aim of the audit is to provide robust intelligence on what Wales’s skills need are currently and in the future at as granular a level as possible.
The audit will facilitate clear prioritisation of current and future strategic skills needs based on the strongest available evidence. The purpose of the audit is to provide insights to policymakers, employers, education and training providers, and other stakeholders on Wales’s strategic skills needs. This can inform their decision-making as part of a skills system that meets current labour market demand but also is responsive to anticipated future demand.
The research should, as a minimum, meet the following objectives:
1. Identify the strategic skills needs of Wales in the short, medium, and long-term, assessing global and domestic political, economic, social, technological, and environmental trends and drivers to present a coherent and robust skills narrative
2. Provide a regional overlay, bringing together intelligence to understand local needs were possible
3. Identify key industry sectors and occupations for Wales and assess their accompanying skills needs
4. Recommend practical steps to build on this Skills Audit to establish a sustainable, cost-effective, and robust process for routine skills analysis in Wales, enabling ongoing identification of skills priorities.
