Bridgend County Borough Council, as host authority for Valleys Regional Park and on behalf of the Valleys Regional Park Partnership, wishes to procure and appoint a provider for its Guardians Initiative project with the initial pilot to commence in April 2020 and run initially until March 2021.
The project is a priority activity within the Valleys Regional Park action plan and has been endorsed by the Valleys Taskforce.
The creation of a small cohort of Guardians will augment and build on the activities of community connectors already within public and third sector organisations across the Valleys. The prime objective of the Guardians initiative is to better connect communities (and indeed visitors) with their natural and cultural heritage assets, through educational, skills, and wellbeing activities. This will help people in the Valleys to benefit socially, cultural and economically and help address environmental challenges.
They will be responsible for communicating the VRP vision and practically delivering relevant VRP initiatives mainly at Discovery Gateways but also in communities themselves. They will crucially network with existing and developing provision in the Valleys and where appropriate with wardens in the Brecon Beacons.
