Total quantity or scope of tender
1.General
The pilot plant has a series of reactors/equipment that are housed within the freight container to enable the production of VFAs. The standard ISO shipping container that is 8ft (2.43 m) wide, 8.5ft (2.59m) high and 20ft (6.06m) long hosts the pilot plant. An overview flow diagram of the pilot plant can be found in Appendix A. In addition, the detailed task list is also attached in Appendix B.
Electrical components specifications
All electrical components are specified to be at least IP65 to provide splash resistance. Equipment does not require ATEX certification.
Control system
The system will be controlled using LabVIEW software developed by National Instruments (NI) utilising analog and digital signals from the electrical instruments. The LabVIEW programming for signal processing and user interface will be carried out by USW.
2.Installation work
SERC will supply all the instruments, reactors and equipment that are the part of the pilot plant. All the electrical wiring of these components to the power supply (via relays) will have to be performed by the contractor. In addition, the environmental gas monitors and smoke detectors will have to be supplied and installed by the contractor. Furthermore, all the existing hydraulic connections will have to be checked and validated by the contractor.
2.1 Responsibilities
The contractor is responsible for:
2.1.1 Provision of suitably qualified labour and supervision to carry out the work.
2.1.2 Provision of sufficient materials to meet design requirements.
2.1.3 Provision of labour to assist in commissioning instrument and electrical systems.
2.1.4 Provision of all tools and equipment necessary to carry out the work.
2.1.5 The Contractor shall identify the hazards of their work activities on site and must assess the risks that result from the work. The Contractor shall prepare a Method Statement, setting out how they intend to carry out the work in a manner that ensures the health, safety and welfare of all persons associated with, or affected by, or influenced by the actions. No work will be allowed to commence without formal acceptance of the overall method statement, risk assessment and the specific method of works due to be carried out.
2.2. Mechanical work
All the equipment and reactor installation will be performed by SERC staff. Typically, this would have been completed by the time the contractor has been awarded the tender. In exceptional circumstances, when the equipment/pipework/reactor installation has not been completed, it will be done parallelly, alongside the electrical installation. The contractor will be required to validate and check the installation as well as hydraulic fittings.
2.3. Electrical work
Once the Mechanical work has finished, all the components will be required to be wired in and tested. Contractor must supply additional electrical components, including cables, switches, relays, and current inverters where required. USW will supply the DAQ devices
