Temporary Supported Accommodation Scheme (Re-advertisement)

Description of the goods or services required

Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council is developing a new 24 hour temporary supported accommodation scheme to be based at an accommodation block currently known as the Neighbourhood Learning Centre, Gurnos Estate. The site comprises of three blocks which are currently being utilised as community training/employment venues.

The service will provide accommodation for up to 5 young people aged 16-24 years, who are leaving foster care or corporate parenting residential care accommodation and may also be utilised to accommodate young homeless individuals who may not have been placed in care, but are vulnerable as a result of being homeless or threatened with homelessness.

The support service will be funded through the WG Housing Support Grant Programme.

MTCBC require an experienced organisation to provide 24 hour housing-related support to young people who have low to medium support needs at this new accommodation setting.

This is a re-advertisement of this opportunity – the tender now includes the facility for providers to submit a market cost for delivering the service. The previous tender utilised the Cost Calculator which has been withdrawn as not being suitable for supported accommodation settings.

Total quantity or scope of tender

The service will provide accommodation for up to 5 young people aged 16-24 years, who are leaving foster care or corporate parenting residential care accommodation and may also be utilised to accommodate young homeless individuals who may not have been placed in care, but are vulnerable as a result of being homeless or threatened with homelessness.

The project will incorporate the refurbishment and redesign of one building (Block 2) into 5 self-contained flats.

This is an Open tender procedure so is open to all suppliers able to demonstrate an ability to meet the criteria outlined in the service specification.
